What people are saying

“Straight from the soulful swagger of San Francisco, the band offer classic funk and soul with an added flicker of pop-songwriting; fit to fill the boots of any of history’s funkiest live bands.” - Stereo Stickman

“Guitars funk furiously, saxophones seduce, the beat pops and grooves in interesting and intricate ways but more than anything the music initially bypasses the listeners head and even their heart and aims straight for the dance shoes before working its way up the body.” - Dave Franklin - Dancing About Architecture

The Fell Swoop

Formed in 2016 and proudly rooted in San Francisco for the past nine years, The Fell Swoop is a five-piece ensemble dedicated to revitalizing classic funk, soul, and rock ’n’ roll with fresh, original compositions and thoughtfully reimagined covers. Drawing on the diverse musical backgrounds of its members, the band crafts an immersive live experience defined by tight, syncopated grooves, vibrant horn arrangements, and dynamic vocals.

To date, The Fell Swoop has performed over 125 engagements, including appearances at High Sierra Music Festival and SXSW, alongside landmark sets on the SF Pride Mainstage, The Independent, August Hall, Off the Grid, Boom Boom Room, Rickshaw Stop, Cornerstone, and Starry Plough. Their reputation for turning any venue, whether a major festival stage or an impromptu street corner, into an unforgettable celebration has earned them a devoted following throughout Northern California and beyond.

In early 2025, the band released two singles to critical acclaim: “Trouble” and “In My Corner” both praised for their infectious hooks and soulful storytelling. Their next release, “Wrong Reasons,” will drop on August 29, 2025, promising another showcase of The Fell Swoop’s signature blend of lyrical depth and irresistible rhythm.

Now entering their tenth year together, The Fell Swoop continues to deepen its musical chemistry and broaden its repertoire. With each performance, the band infuses classic grooves with renewed energy and creativity, inviting audiences into a vibrant celebration of danceable funk, soul, and rock ’n’ roll.
